The Whittlewood parishes are a group (Benefice) of Anglican (Church of England) parishes located in South Northamptonshire .
We are in the Deanery of Towcester, the Archdeaconry of Northampton and the Diocese of Peterborough. The parishes are Silverstone, Abthorpe, Slapton, Whittlebury and Paulerspury. The area we cover is primarily rural and the five villages have populations ranging from under 100 to just over 1500.
This is a mixed community, there are quite a number of retired people living in the parishes and then we also have a great deal of farming both arable and livestock, and there is also some local industry, majoring on the Motorsports Industry. Towcester Horse Racing Track falls within the Parish of Paulerspury and we also include Silverstone circuit, home of the British Grand Prix, in our area - which brings us bang up to date.
Many people who live in these parishes travel far and wide to work, enjoying coming home to the peace and tranquillity to be enjoyed in the area (except over the Grand Prix Weekend!). There is quite a large expanse of countryside still forested (a remnant of the ancient hunting forest of Whittlewood)
It is our Christian Mission to engage as generously and openly with all those amongst whom we live and all those who come to visit us. We want to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and to encourage each child of God to discover the joy of being a part of His church, our community.
Please join us at any of the Churches in the Benefice to worship God, to arrange your wedding, a Baptism or other occasion.
We invite you to look at our Services page for full details of forthcoming times to worship God, both our regular scheduled services and those for special occasions.
